The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) is seeking a proven leader with a compelling vision to fill the position of Secretary General
 
IFLA is the leading international body representing the interests of library and information services and their users. It is the global voice of the library and information profession. IFLA has now 1500 members in approximately 150 countries around the world and is registered in the Netherlands. The headquarters is located in the Royal Library, the National Library of the Netherlands.  IFLA is an independent, international, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization.

Responsibilities

The Secretary General is the Chief Executive Officer and head of IFLA’s Secretariat, responsible for the organization’s success and the consistent achievement of its mission including the strategic and operational direction and financial management of IFLA within policies determined by IFLA General Assembly and Governing Board; appointment of staff; provision of advice to the officers and Governing Board of IFLA and the implementation of decisions; coordination of IFLA programs including the core activities and regional offices; ensuring that the Board is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important factors influencing it; serving on the Board of trustees of the IFLA Stichting Foundation and as an officer of the IFLA conference holding companies, and, such other responsibilities as are necessary for the effective and efficient operation of IFLA.
